Wherein I express myriad incredulities

I recently went to Whole Foods with a bunch of glass milk bottles to get my deposit back. This is ordinarily a quick trip to the customer service counter – I give them my bottles, they give me cash, and I go on my merry way.

But the Fates, being the jerks that they are, put this in front of me.

I mean, really, you would think that someone who was both diabetic (sorry, pre-diabetic) AND allergic to wheat would be accustomed to spending a little more time preparing her meals. Why spend 10 minutes ranting at a customer service peon about things that the customer service rep can’t do anything about? It’s counterproductive and obnoxious.

Also, the number of “former friends” that she referenced later in the tirade was sad. It really sounded like she was lonely because everyone around her thought she was annoying (like me) and she was trying to engage people by being totally negative.

Usually you find those people in line at the post office. In Granolaville you apparently find them at Whole Foods.

And the kicker? I’ve been stuck behind this woman in line before. And yesterday probably wasn’t the LAST time it will happen either. Sigh.

**Today’s strip was hand-drawn (obviously) – feel free to leave feedback on whether or not that is a good idea for the future.
